2006 Summer Institutes at the OCDE
The Orange County Department of Education is now offering exciting and all new Educational Technology Summer Institutes! Each institute is three days of hands-on instruction and practice, culminating in a final product that can be used in your classroom. The Blogging Institute is July 25, 26, and 27. Then the Podcasting Institute is August 1, 2, and 3. Finally, the Video Games in Education Institute is August 8, 9, and 10. Click here for more information, and http://register.ocde.us to register.
ADEC Awards
The Orange County Animation Project was one of five programs in the state to receive the 2006 AFFY Award from the Alliance For Distance Education (ADEC). The project, which uses videoconferencing and the web for students to receive mentoring from animation professionals, currently has 16 schools at the K-12 and college level in the county that are participating. Digital Archives
The Orange County Department of Education’s Digital Media Archive is full of a variety of audio and video programs that were produced by the Educational Technology department. Student conversations with authors, technology in education specials, and school technology programs are featured as streaming and downloadable content. Live Broadcasts
CTAP, Orange County Department of Education, and KOCE conducted a live broadcast entitled "Can You Beat the Greeks" on March 21st. This program was distributed across the CTAP Region (Imperial, San Diego, and Orange Counties) over the California High Speed Network and Orange County's KOCE PBS station. San Diego distributed the programming over their ITV channel as did Imperial over their EdTV channel. For additional information about this program, please visit http://webcast.ocde.us/beatii.mov
